Default Verrun of Hundswood & Stonecove (sworn to Tal Dragore)

Sigil: A green dog on a pink field.

The Verruns are a little, dwindling house that serves a family sworn to Tal Dragore, the Sunders of Gallowstrom Grove, a wooded region along the south-western borders of the land controlled by Tal Dragore. Shielded by trees and sitting on the edge of a river, the Verrun own a wide bridge and an unsound keep Hundswood and overlook a small village of foresters and fishers, barely scraping by financially. The family’s blood can be traced west and southwards but the Verrun of the Southshores are young compared to many families, having only established where they are now a hundred or so years ago by way of the sword.

The image of the starved sickly-green hound on the Verrun flag perfectly depicts the Verruns: scavengers to a fault. It is something they are, perhaps misguidedly, proud in. And like the hound, they are both cheery and fierce and most of all loyal granted that they are cared for.

Living in the backwaters of the Southshores, it is as if the Verrun of Hundswood are in their own weird little country. Less focused in the pomp typical of the Southshores, preferring pragmatism and directness, they are easily bribed and quickly swayed by riches and wine. The constant scheming of the Verruns seemed to always fall under accomplished in the past, making their ambition always fashionably laughable. Thankfully, the line has at least offered an adequate number of steadfast fighters, identifiable by their blond hair, which redeems in some way everything else they lack.

RAISA VERRUN
King's mistress. Mother of Cendrine and Jayme Fairchild.
King Rothgar's mistress- the first recognized since Lyenthe Vikary- is a position Raisa has somehow found herself in and it's a long way from Hundswood to Tor Vellesca, in so very many ways...
